According to data released by \u010cTK, the five building societies operating in the country granted loans totaling <strong data-start=\"493\" data-end=\"522\">67.2 billion Czech koruna<\/strong>, marking a <strong data-start=\"534\" data-end=\"543\">30.4%<\/strong> year-on-year increase compared to 2024. This result confirms the central role of building savings in housing finance, particularly at a time of rising property costs and growing attention to housing quality.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"753\" data-end=\"792\">Unsecured loans lead the growth<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"793\" data-end=\"1270\">Driving the market expansion were above all <strong data-start=\"837\" data-end=\"870\">loans not secured by property<\/strong>, mainly used for the <strong data-start=\"892\" data-end=\"931\">renovation of apartments and houses<\/strong> and for <strong data-start=\"940\" data-end=\"974\">energy efficiency improvements<\/strong>. This type of financing accounted for <strong data-start=\"1013\" data-end=\"1048\">86% of the 51,258 loans granted<\/strong> during the year. The volume of unsecured loans reached <strong data-start=\"1104\" data-end=\"1127\">38.8 billion koruna<\/strong>, recording a <strong data-start=\"1141\" data-end=\"1172\">41.5% year-on-year increase<\/strong>, highlighting a growing demand for flexible and fast solutions to upgrade existing housing stock.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"1272\" data-end=\"1312\">Average loan amounts on the rise<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1313\" data-end=\"1757\">In 2025, the average size of loans granted by building societies also increased. While in 2024 the average loan stood at <strong data-start=\"1434\" data-end=\"1454\">1,071,200 koruna<\/strong>, last year it rose to <strong data-start=\"1477\" data-end=\"1497\">1,310,430 koruna<\/strong>. At the same time, the total number of loans issued increased by <strong data-start=\"1563\" data-end=\"1571\">6.6%<\/strong>, indicating not only higher overall volumes but also a tendency among clients to apply for larger amounts, often linked to more complex renovation projects or energy-saving investments.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"1759\" data-end=\"1805\">New building savings contracts decline<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1806\" data-end=\"2322\">Contrary to the strong growth in lending, the <strong data-start=\"1852\" data-end=\"1896\">number of new building savings contracts<\/strong> recorded a slight decline. In 2025, <strong data-start=\"1933\" data-end=\"1958\">437,067 new contracts<\/strong> were signed, <strong data-start=\"1972\" data-end=\"1986\">3.4% fewer<\/strong> than in the previous year. The <strong data-start=\"2018\" data-end=\"2041\">total target amount<\/strong>, which reflects clients\u2019 future intentions to save or borrow, also fell by <strong data-start=\"2117\" data-end=\"2125\">5.7%<\/strong>, dropping to <strong data-start=\"2139\" data-end=\"2163\">292.6 billion koruna<\/strong>. Nevertheless, according to the Association of Czech Building Societies (A\u010cSS), building savings remain a reliable, safe and predictable financial instrument.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"2324\" data-end=\"2384\">The role of building societies in the housing market<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"2385\" data-end=\"2939\">\u201cThe 2025 data clearly show that building societies play a fundamental role in financing higher-quality housing in the Czech Republic,\u201d said Pavel \u010cejka, executive director of the A\u010cSS. The performance of individual institutions confirms a dynamic market, with strong growth for \u010cSOB and Raiffeisen, while other players posted more moderate results.
